About the Role
The Treasury Reporting Specialist role sits within the Treasury and Regulatory Reporting function of a regulated South African banking environment focused on specialised lending and financial inclusion. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating management reporting, supporting treasury-related financial insights, and driving the budgeting and forecasting process across lending divisions. This opportunity offers strong exposure to executive leadership, divisional financial performance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the monthly financial reporting process, ensuring accurate management accounts and adherence to reporting timelines.
- Prepare executive-level reporting packs for senior stakeholders including the CFO, CEO and Board committees.
- Analyse financial performance across lending divisions, including Home Loans, Business Lending and Specialised Lending portfolios.
- Support Treasury and ALCO reporting processes, including engagement with business units on cashflow forecasting and liquidity planning.
- Review and challenge IFRS9 impairment reporting outputs in collaboration with Risk specialists to ensure accurate credit risk reporting.
- Act as the first-level independent reviewer of financial results, investigating variances and validating the accuracy of reported numbers.
- Provide financial insights into key business drivers, including lending performance, funding impacts and balance sheet movements.
- Coordinate regulatory reporting inputs and annual financial statement disclosures within a regulated banking environment.
- Lead and project manage the annual budgeting and 5-year forecasting process, consolidating divisional submissions into entity-level reporting.
- Maintain strong financial governance structures, including reporting templates, consolidation frameworks and GL oversight.
- Serve as the key finance liaison for internal and external audits, particularly relating to financial reporting and internal financial controls.
- Manage and review the work of one direct report, ensuring accuracy across journals, loan portfolio tracking, reconciliations and financial schedules.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Matric (Grade 12), BCom Accounting, BCom Honours
- Experience: Minimum 3 years experience within the banking or financial services sector
- Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, data analysis and reporting
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy under tight reporting deadlines
- Ability to manage high-pressure reporting cycles, particularly during month-end, financial year-end and budgeting periods
- Strong analytical capability with the confidence to review, question and challenge financial results where necessary
- Structured and disciplined working style, with strong organisational and time management skills
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced banking or treasury reporting environment
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across Finance, Treasury, Risk and business units
