Richards Bay: Pastry Sous Chef

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Pastry Sous Chef to join our team at a luxury lodge in Richards Bay. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef and ensuring the highest standards of pastry preparation and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and plate desserts, breads, pastries, and chocolate work to high standards
• Assist with menu planning and ordering ingredients
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
• Supervise and mentor junior staff members as required
• Work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced service environment

Requirements

• Formal Culinary Diploma or Pastry Qualification from a recognized institution
• Food Safety/HACCP certification advantageous
• 35 years experience in a pastry role within: 5-star hotels, Fine dining restaurants, Luxury lodges or resorts
• Previous experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef preferred
• Experience in remote or lodge environments is highly advantageous
