About the Role
Nelson Mandela University is seeking an Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Mercantile Law to contribute to the academic project of the Faculty of Law. The successful candidate will facilitate and administer learning and teaching processes for students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conduct research, engage with the community, and participate in core functions of the Faculty and University.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate effective teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Specifically in Mercantile Law modules, including Labour Law and/or IT Law.
- Assume responsibility for course materials, lectures, tutorials and assessment of law modules, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Contribute to programme management and curriculum development.
- Successful research supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Mercantile Law.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the research and engagement strategies for the Department of Mercantile Law.
- Perform independent research and publish peer-reviewed research outputs.
- Perform administrative duties and contribute to the achievement of the Faculty of Law’s strategic plan.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of the Faculty of Law’s strategic plan.
Requirements
For Senior Lecturer:
- An LLD or PhD in a sub-discipline in Mercantile Law.
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in a teaching, learning and research environment.
- Possess experience at facilitating learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- A record of both undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
- Participation in local and international conferences through the presentation of research papers.
- Proven record of accepted peer-reviewed publications.
- Have potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by involvement in relevant engagement activities and the publication of textbooks etc.
- Have a good understanding of Academic policies and procedures.
For Associate Professor:
- An LLD or PhD in a sub-discipline in Mercantile Law.
- A minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in a teaching, learning and research environment.
- Participation in local and international conferences through the presentation of research papers.
- Possess experience at facilitating learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- A record of both undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
