About the Role

A prominent retail organization is seeking a Credit Risk Analyst to join its Risk & Analytics team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will utilize data-driven insights to shape customer strategies, enhance credit portfolio performance, and support overall business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of credit risk data, developing models to evaluate customer creditworthiness and overall portfolio performance.
  • Convert complex analytical findings into clear, practical insights and recommendations for senior management and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the design and execution of risk strategies aimed at reducing financial exposure while optimising portfolio returns.
  • Track, analyse, and report on credit risk trends, portfolio quality, and emerging risk factors.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Marketing, and Data Analytics, to ensure risk strategies are aligned with broader business goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve risk reporting dashboards, metrics, and KPIs.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal risk management frameworks.

Requirements

  • Relevant postgraduate degree in mathematical or statistical subjects preferred; B. Com or Business Science degree acceptable.
  • 3+ years’ experience in consumer credit analytics, with proven ability to implement solutions based on analytical findings.
  • Deep understanding of the credit lifecycle; experience with revolving store cards or credit cards advantageous.
