Role Overview
The Student Residence Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of a student accommodation facility. The role ensures a safe, well-maintained, and supportive living environment while managing occupancy, facilities, staff, stakeholders, and student well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the student residence
- Develop, implement, and enforce residence rules, procedures, and policies
- Manage front-of-house operations and resident services
- Ensure the smooth running of accommodation facilities
Occupancy & Administration
- Manage occupancy reports, room allocations, transfers, and returning students
- Oversee room selection and allocation processes
- Maintain accurate records and administrative systems
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports
Facilities & Asset Management
- Maintain asset registers for furniture, appliances, and equipment
- Conduct monthly stock takes and inspections
- Coordinate maintenance requests and monitor turnaround times
- Liaise daily with facilities management and external contractors
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Develop and implement health and safety plans
- Conduct regular room, apartment, and building inspections
- Ensure compliance with OHS and safety regulations
- Develop and implement emergency response plans
People & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise student staff and manage work schedules
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and stakeholders
- Handle resident enquiries, concerns, and escalations professionally
- Promote a positive student culture, wellness, and development
Service Providers & Support Functions
- Manage third-party service providers such as security, cleaning, pest control, hygiene, and access control
- Monitor parking facilities and access systems
- Liaise with IT providers regarding Wi-Fi and access systems
- Support marketing initiatives with the marketing function
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Student Residence Manager (essential)
- Proven experience in student accommodation or residential living environments
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and reporting ability
- Experience managing diverse stakeholders and student populations
- Knowledge of health and safety and emergency response procedures
- Valid drivers license (preferred)
