About the Role

The Data Platform Support / Operations Engineer role at E-Merge is responsible for providing day-to-day operational support to the data platform, ensuring its stability and resolving issues efficiently. This position acts as the first line of response for tickets, alerts, and data-related requests, enabling data engineering teams to focus on project delivery and long-term improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and resolve data platform tickets and alerts.
  • Manage data access requests and platform configuration changes.
  • Monitor and fix ETL/ELT pipeline failures and delays.
  • Handle data, operator, and system amendments.
  • Maintain operational queues and prevent stalled tickets.
  • Investigate data quality issues and dashboard discrepancies.
  • Maintain and improve runbooks for common tasks and incidents.
  • Identify recurring issues and support automation or system improvements.
  • Keep ticketing systems updated with accurate status and categorisation.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and provide regular reporting on issues and trends.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience in Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, scheduling, and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting tools and data quality investigation.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira) and operational support environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritisation, and communication skills.
