About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Lead/Couple to join our senior team at a premier 5-star lodge located in the Kruger National Park. As a technically-minded leader, you will oversee the structural and mechanical heartbeat of an iconic luxury retreat, surrounded by ancient riverine forests and untamed landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle related maintenance – ability to lead a team, proactively identify issues, and at least carry out basic repairs.
- Assistance with / overall maintenance of the lodge and all facilities, including the upkeep of buildings, fixtures, furniture, equipment, swimming pools, landscapes, and gardens.
- Ensuring a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for the lodge is implemented / followed, and ensuring that all essential equipment is serviced and maintained in a manner that prolongs the lifespan of the equipment.
- Ensuring that all maintenance is conducted in a way that would not interfere with guest satisfaction.
- Assistance with / management of development of the maintenance team members.
- Performance management and discipline of staff.
- Adhere to / prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring projects are completed within allocated financial resources.
- Month end reporting.
- Game drives & / Lead / back up bush walks in a Big 5 area (Only if also a Field/Trails Guide, but not mandatory).
- Hosting of guests on a rotational basis potentially / TBC.
Requirements
- Strong work ethic with a hands-on, proactive approach to daily operations.
- Honest, reliable and effective communicators with the ability to multitask and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, fit, and energetic, with a confident, people-centric manner and strong interpersonal skills.
- Flexible team players who are willing to assist across departments as required, and who demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications
- National Senior / Matric certificate.
- Maintenance Supervisor / Manager experience from within a 4/5* reserve, camp, lodge or hotel environment.
- Fair understanding & / experience regarding vehicle maintenance.
- Good computer literacy (excel, word, outlook, internet).
- Good administrative skills.
- People / hosting skill or ability.
Salary & Benefits
Gross monthly salary: NEG. DOE & qualifications. Accommodation: Private room en-site; basic furnishings; Meals provided; Uniform and laundry thereof; Gratuities – Part of the lodge general staff tip pool. Work / leave cycle: 6 weeks on 2 weeks off plus 21 annual leave days.
