South Africa: Plant Supervisor – Milling and Gravity Recovery (Gold mining)

Job Description

Candidates must come from a gold mining background and preference will be given to those candidates that have worked on rotation previously. Job Purpose As the Plant Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the milling and gravity recovery circuits while leading a team of operators to achieve production targets and maintain high operational standards. What You’ll Be Doing Lead and supervise plant operators during shift operations Coordinate daily activities and ensure adherence to operational procedures Monitor milling and gravity recovery equipment including mills, pumps, gravity concentrators, and shaking tables Drive safe production and optimize plant performance Conduct workplace inspections and champion a strong safety culture Ensure high housekeeping standards across the plant Report operational issues, equipment defects, and production challenges Support operator training, development, and performance improvement Assist with plant start-ups, shutdowns, and shift handovers What We’re Looking For Essential Requirements Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in a mineral processing or gold plant environment A tertiary qualification would be advantageous Sound knowledge of milling and gravity recovery processes Experience supervising plant operators and coordinating shift activities Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Commitment to safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement Basic computer literacy Willingness to work shifts and extended hours when required Key Competencies Team leadership and people management Operational monitoring and troubleshooting Safety awareness and compliance Planning and organizational skills Effective communication and reporting Production-focused mindset
