About the Role

A unique opportunity has emerged for a Sous Chef to join the culinary leadership team for an upcoming restaurant opening in the heart of Cape Town. This establishment features an elevated Karoo-Modern culinary concept with a Japandi aesthetic, focusing on premium Karoo lamb and organic, farm-to-table vegetables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team, ensuring smooth service and consistent quality.
  • Oversee daily preparation, cooking, and plating to guarantee dishes meet the restaurant’s creative and technical standards.
  • Manage stock control, supplier coordination, and compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations.
  • Provide input on seasonal specials and creative ideas that align with the Karoo-Modern and Japandi fusion concept.
  • Mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff, fostering discipline, growth, and pride in craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • Proven background as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a fine-dining or concept-driven environment.
  • Strong foundation in cooking techniques, ingredient handling, and plating precision.
  • Ability to maintain composure and consistency under pressure, supporting the Head Chef’s leadership.
