About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join our team, responsible for manufacturing and assembling precision tools, moulds, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and assemble precision tools, moulds, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings.
  • Interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
  • Use manual and CNC machining equipment to produce high-precision components.
  • Inspect, repair, and modify existing tools and moulds to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues affecting production quality or efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to the production team during tooling-related breakdowns.
  • Assist in setting up tools and ensuring correct installation on machines.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve tooling performance.
  • Ensure all tools meet required dimensional and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections using measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers, gauges, etc.).
  • Adhere to safety standards and company procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tooling efficiency and lifespan.
  • Recommend design improvements to reduce downtime and waste.

Requirements

Trade qualification as a Toolmaker (Red Seal or equivalent preferred)

35 years experience in a toolroom or manufacturing environment (plastics industry advantage)
