About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Steel Slitter Operator to join our team in the steel industry. As a Steel Slitter, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring steel slitting machines to cut coils into specified widths, while ensuring accurate measurements and quality cuts in line with production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor steel slitting machines to cut coils into specified widths.
- Set up and adjust slitting knives, spacers, and guides according to job specifications.
- Ensure accurate measurements and quality cuts in line with production requirements.
- Inspect steel coils for defects, thickness, and material quality before processing.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments during operation.
- Maintain production efficiency while minimizing material waste.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal operation.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.
- Record production data, coil numbers, and job details accurately.
- Work closely with the production team and supervisors to meet deadlines.
- Load and unload steel coils using overhead cranes or forklifts (if certified).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
