About the Role
Join a luxury boutique lodge in the Southwest Waterberg, Limpopo, as a seasoned Field Guide ahead of its 2026 reopening. Adjacent to Welgevonden Game Reserve, this property offers exclusive seven-night, fixed-stay safaris for international guests via a European agency—ensuring a predictable operational rhythm and elevated guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional Big 5 experiences and create memorable moments on and off the vehicle.
- Host guests with confidence and warmth, including dinner hosting and direct individual gratuities.
- Maintain knowledge of Waterberg ecology and provide insightful commentary during game drives.
- Ensure safe and enjoyable safaris for all guests, adhering to lodge policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Fluent in Afrikaans, Dutch or Flemish (non-negotiable)
- FGASA Field Guide qualification
- CATHSSETA certificate
- NDT registration
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- PDP
- First Aid
- 2–4 years’ guiding experience in a Big 5 reserve

Salary & Benefits
- Package salary: R10,000 per month
- DOE (Dependent on Experience)
- Tips: Guides retain direct individual gratuities (not part of shared pool)
- Meals: Lunch & dinner during rostered on-duty period
- Accommodation: Private bedroom in senior staff quarters (own bathroom & kitchenette) Utilities included; uniform provided (excluding footwear); self-service laundry
Work Cycle
- 6 days off/month
- 15 days annual leave
- Remote, on-site role outside Vaalwater; approx. 30 km gravel road—reliable transport essential
