About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Operator to join our team in a premium studio environment, where you will work on world-leading 5-axis CNC machinery and be exposed to high-end solid hardwood furniture production. You will be part of a design-led and craft-driven working culture that values quality craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain 5-axis CNC machines for hardwood furniture production
- Interpret CAD files, technical drawings, and machining instructions
- Perform precise tooling selection, fixturing, and machine calibration
- Ensure high-precision output through in-process inspection and quality control
- Troubleshoot machining and production issues independently
- Maintain machines through routine servicing and care
- Collaborate with designers, joiners, and production team members
- Support workflow optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Uphold strict health, safety, and workshop standards
Requirements
- 2–3+ years CNC operating experience (minimum 3-axis preferred)
- 3-axis operating experience essential
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and workflows
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files
- Experience in woodworking, joinery, or precision manufacturing (preferred)
- CAM software experience (Fusion 360, RhinoCAM, Mastercam, etc.) advantageous
- Strong knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, and hardwood machining (advantageous)
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and within a skilled team
- Reliable, professional, and quality-driven mindset
- Valid South African ID or work permit
