Witbank: Legal Assistant – Conveyancing & Deceased Estates

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team in Witbank, providing support to our Conveyancing Department and Deceased Estates administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Conveyancing Department
  • Assist with Conveyancing matters and Deceased Estates administration
  • Perform accurate Dictaphone typing and document transcription from Directors Draft
  • Prepare, format, and manage legal documentation and correspondence
  • Liaise with clients, banks, municipalities, and relevant stakeholders
  • Open and maintain legal files and ensure accurate record keeping
  • Schedule appointments, manage diaries, and coordinate meetings
  • Capture and update information on Ghost Practice and Lexis systems
  • Ensure all legal documentation is correctly filed and processed within required deadlines
  • Attend to general legal secretarial and office administration duties

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Legal Secretary within a legal firm
  • Exposure to Conveyancing processes
  • Exposure to Deceased Estates administration
  • Experience working on Ghost Practice and Lexis systems (advantageous)
  • Dictaphone typing is essential
