Port Elizabeth: CNC Machinist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manual mill and lathe operations, as well as experience with CNC machines. They will be responsible for producing high-quality parts and working collaboratively with other team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines, including drawing and developing 3D CAD designs using Fusion 360 or Inventor
  • Perform post-processing tasks, such as tooling and finishing
  • Design and select the correct tools for each job, taking into account size and RPM requirements
  • Use a slotter to create keyways
  • Utilize excellent hand skills and fitting experience to complete tasks efficiently
  • Work on site from time to time, including performing hydraulic machining repairs and rigging operations
  • Collaborate with other team members as the second most senior machinist, working closely with 3 fitters at a similar level

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Trade test certification in Fitter and Turner, Machinist, or Toolmaker (any relevant certification will be considered)
  • Experience with manual mill and lathe operations, including large lathe experience
  • Familiarity with CNC machines and post-processing tasks
  • Ability to design and select tools for each job
  • Excellent hand skills and fitting experience

Qualifications

  • Formal education or certifications in a relevant field (if applicable)
