Job Description
Our client, a leading provider of vascular and medical services in Bloemfontein, is seeking a professional and organized Medical Receptionist / Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative and reception duties. This role is ideal for someone with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for providing exceptional patient service in a medical setting.
Minimum requirements
- Matric
- Proven experience as a medical receptionist, medical administrator, or front-desk officer in a healthcare environment
- Proficiency in computer systems, including MS Office and VeriClaim
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Office Administration, Medical Administration, or Healthcare Management is advantageous
- Knowledge of billing, appointments scheduling, and clinic administration procedures is an advantage
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
- Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion and compliance with data protection policies

- Professional and friendly patient-focused attitude
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
Duties and responsibilities
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
- Schedule and manage consultations for medical practitioners
- Prepare and manage patient consent forms
- Maintain a fully paperless practice, ensuring all patient records are accurately managed digitally
- Assist patients with queries regarding appointments, treatments, and services
- Create and manage patient files on the Cloud and VeriClaim systems (training will be provided)
- Send out confirmations and pre-consultation questionnaires to patients
- Arrange patient admissions, including confirmation with patients and communication with hospitals
- Open new patient folders and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Upload patient information into the system
- Perform daily and monthly billing tasks accurately and on time
- Manage authorisations for medical aid claims
- Respond to queries from medical aid providers and ensure smooth resolution
Remuneration
R15 000 per month
