About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Baker-Confectioner to join our dynamic supermarket team in Johannesburg, East Rand, Gauteng. As a key member of our bakery department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality baked goods and confectionery products that meet our store’s requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, and confectionery products in line with store requirements.
- Follow standard recipes and portion sizes to maintain consistent product quality.
- Decorate and arrange baked goods attractively to enhance sales.
- Manage ingredients, baking supplies, and stock rotation (FIFO) to minimize waste.
- Clean and maintain baking tools and machinery according to health and safety standards.
- Ensure all baking activities comply with food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a commercial baker or confectioner in a retail supermarket environment.
- Strong understanding of bread, rolls, pastries, cakes, doughs, and other baked/confectionery goods.
- Ability to follow recipes precisely and maintain consistent quality and portion control.
- Skilled in operating ovens, mixers, proofers, dough sheeters, and other bakery equipment.
- Knowledge of food safety & hygiene principles, food handling, and hygiene standards.
