About the Role

Join a globally recognised asset manager with a strong presence in emerging markets and a reputation for excellence in investment management. This is an exciting opportunity for an Operational Risk Analyst to join a high-performing team, supporting the business in identifying, assessing, and managing operational risk across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the capture, analysis, and reporting of operational risk events, including near misses and loss data
  • Assisting with root cause analysis and tracking remediation actions
  • Facilitating Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and maintaining risk registers
  • Supporting the design and assessment of key controls and mitigation strategies
  • Producing operational risk reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders
  • Monitoring key risk indicators (KRIs) and identifying emerging risk trends
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of the operational risk framework, policies, and procedures
  • Supporting training initiatives to embed a strong risk culture across the business
  • Assisting with operational risk systems, data quality, and process improvements

Requirements

  • Up to 3 years’ experience in risk, compliance, internal audit, or a related control function
  • CA(SA) or relevant qualification advantageous
  • Experience within financial services or a regulated environment
  • Solid understanding of operational risk concepts (risk events, RCSAs, KRIs, controls)
  • Exposure to governance frameworks and risk systems/GRC tools
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage non-risk stakeholders

About the Role

Our client, an independent global asset manager with R3.08 trillion in assets under management, is seeking an Operational Risk Analyst to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and oversight of the company’s operational risk management framework, including policies, methodologies, tools, and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the capture, analysis, and quality assurance of operational risk events, including near misses and loss data
  • Assist with root cause analysis, impact assessment, and classification of risk events
  • Track remediation findings and actions arising from risk events, and escalate overdue or material findings as required
  • Contribute to trend analysis and thematic insights derived from risk event data
  • Facilitate and support Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and other risk identification exercises
  • Assist business functions in identifying inherent risks, assessing control effectiveness, and determining residual risk
  • Support the maintenance of risk registers and key risk documentation
  • Identify, design, and document key controls to mitigate operational risks
  • Assess control design and operating effectiveness as part of RCSAs and ongoing monitoring
  • Develop, track, and validate risk mitigation plans and management findings and actions
  • Produce regular operational risk reports and dashboards for management, committees, and senior stakeholders
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs), thresholds, and emerging risk signals
  • Support escalation processes for risk events, control failures, or adverse trends
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with governance requirements

Requirements

  • Up to 3 years’ experience in risk management, or related control functions (including compliance, internal audit, or an equivalent first-line control role), or a CA qualification
  • Experience in financial services or another regulated environment
  • A strong understanding of operational risk concepts (e.g. risk events, RCSAs, KRIs, controls)
  • Familiarity with operational risk systems or GRC tools
