Delareyville: Grain Procurer

About the Role

The Grain Procurer will be responsible for ensuring that all grain procurement is done to maximize returns while maintaining competitive pricing, managing transactions to follow company risk management strategies, and ensuring a sustainable supply of grain to the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement grain procurement strategies and pricing models
• Analyse grain market trends, as well as seasonal and geographical market characteristics
• Do forecasting
• Cost efficient procurement of grain
• Networking and negotiating contracts with suppliers
• Safex trading
• Risk management
• Predict and capture opportunities in future markets, while limiting risk exposure
• Liaising and establishing long term relationships with role players in the industry

Requirements

• B-degree in Agriculture, or related qualification
• In-depth knowledge of and at least 8 years’ relevant experience of the maize industry
• Strategic thinking
• Analytical abilities
• Knowledge of supply-demand economics
• Ability to negotiate favourable contracts
• Ability to respect market directions and handle the pressure of market positions
