About the Role
The Maintenance Foreman is a key position responsible for driving process improvements, managing maintenance operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a qualified professional with experience in supervisory roles, mechanical expertise, and proficiency in MS Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive improvements in processes to increase operational efficiency and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Ensure effective management and adherence to the maintenance plan, including updating preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and planning utilities availability.
- Oversee and maintain the engineering stores, ensuring accurate inventory control, timely availability of spare parts and materials, and compliance with procurement and storage procedures.
- Optimize asset utilization, ensure plant maintenance standards are met, and support short- and long-term equipment replacement planning.
- Manage and control the maintenance budget, approve cost estimates and capital proposals, and oversee Capex projects.
- Ensure adherence to procurement procedures and compliance with QMS requirements.
- Ensure that subordinates adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, work instruction, and SOPs at all times.
- Accept the role of GMP team member.
- Ensure compliance with OHSACT and statutory requirements and ensure that unsafe conditions are reported and rectified.
- Maintain sound interpersonal relations, apply performance management effectively, and ensure optimal resource utilisation.
- Provide training and coaching to develop employees and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Support and encourage company values and actively engage in problem-solving.
- Lead projects and initiatives.
Requirements
- Qualified Millwright with valid Red Seal certification.
- Wireman’s license qualification in accordance with SANS 10142.
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with boiler operations and maintenance.
- MS Office proficient.
- Working knowledge of GMPs in a food manufacturing facility.
