About the Role
The candidate will be responsible for carrying out research on optimising ionizable lipid synthesis that incorporate novel compounds derived from bio-renewable sources at the Chemical Process Technologies Pharma (CPTP) site in Waltloo, Pretoria. The incumbent will report to the CPTP R&D manager and be part of a multidisciplinary team that applies synthetic organic chemistry for the production of ionizable lipids for the development of new mRNA vaccines and therapies.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out research on optimising ionizable lipid synthesis that incorporate novel compounds derived from bio-renewable sources
- Report to the CPTP R&D manager and be part of a multidisciplinary team
- Apply synthetic organic chemistry for the production of ionizable lipids
- Follow reaction kinetics using analytical equipment to optimise reaction efficiencies
Requirements
- Experience with working in an organic synthesis research laboratory
- Experience in isolation techniques for organic molecules
- Experience in identification techniques for organic molecules
- Familiarity with use of analytical equipment
Qualifications
PhD or Masters degree in Organic Chemistry, with a focus on organic synthesis or similar field.
