About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Paralegal to join our team in Pretoria, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to our legal department, handling a range of tasks and duties that require attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and type legal correspondence, memoranda, and other documentation
- Maintain and organise digital and physical filing systems
- Manage incoming documentation from stakeholders
- Handle telephonic queries and route communications appropriately
- Coordinate instructions to external legal representatives, including preparation of mandate documentation
- Perform general office duties including printing, scanning, and document management
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, including virtual sessions
- Take minutes during meetings and compile action items
- Register and maintain files on internal systems
- Prepare and distribute relevant documentation to stakeholders
- Ensure all required compliance documentation is obtained
- Assist with legal research and investigative tasks
- Draft preliminary legal opinions, reports, and timelines
- Prepare settlement agreements and related documentation
- Compile documentation required for payment processing
- Monitor and update case progress, including trial schedules
- Close files and ensure all records are accurately updated
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) essential
- Paralegal qualification advantageous
- Secretarial or administrative qualification advantageous
