Durban: Quality Technician

Job Description

About the Role

The Quality Technician role is a critical position in our manufacturing facility, responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are met and maintained. The successful candidate will be part of a team that strives for excellence in all aspects of production, focusing on continuous improvement and minimizing waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Eliminate waste by updating QCB/TQM boards as needed
  • Manage quarantine store stock to reduce inventory levels daily
  • Ensure all quality documentation is present, implemented, and operational staff are trained
  • Administer dispositions & deviations
  • Conduct sort and prevent parts outflow to Customer where quality concerns are raised
  • Isolate and identify defective and incomplete parts and store in Quarantine area
  • Conduct 1ST OFF/IN Processes and Last OFF processes to the required standard
  • Ensure all calibration is up to date
  • Facilitate containment when quality concerns are raised (Internal and external)
  • Implement & uphold quality standards to reduce defects within the plant as per targets defined by the TQM board
  • Manage A3 problem solving activity to eliminate waste & improve production within areas of control
  • Reporting of Actions taken at daily FRP meetings
  • Practice & improve 5S according to 5S Audit Sheet
  • Promote 5S condition in affected working areas as well as common work areas as allocated
  • Monitor status of stock identification
  • Ensure PPE is worn according to work standards
  • Check work area for any unsafe working, health, and environmental conditions
  • Follow SHEMS Procedures
  • Conduct & administer process audits as per audit schedule
  • Ensure Part Quality is to required Quality Standards and raise all quality related concerns
  • Measurement reports and ensure TQM
  • Responsible for own personal attendance to ensure it is 98% on an ongoing basis
  • Submit accurate time sheets monthly

Requirements

  • Suitably Qualified Senior Certificate
  • 2-3 years experience in a relevant field
  • Use of measuring equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Quality Control Systems within the Automotive Industry
  • Metal finishing/coating experience
