About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Solar Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing efficient and compliant solar PV systems, supporting project delivery from concept through to installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design solar PV systems (grid-tied, hybrid, and off-grid)
- Perform site assessments and energy yield analysis
- Prepare system layouts, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with local standards and regulations
- Collaborate with project managers, installers, and clients
- Optimize system performance and cost efficiency
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 25 years experience in solar PV system design
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVsyst, AutoCAD)
- Strong understanding of solar components and electrical systems
- Knowledge of South African standards (e.g., NRS, SANS)
