About the Role
African Echoes Recruitment is seeking an experienced and strategic HR Manager to oversee the full Human Resources function across multiple hotels and lodges for a leading hospitality group based in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will drive a high-performance culture, ensure legal compliance, and align HR strategy with operational and service excellence goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures across the group
• Ensure full legal compliance with all labour legislation and HR practices
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning across properties
• Oversee performance management systems and staff development programmes
• Manage industrial relations, including disciplinary processes and CCMA matters
• Oversee payroll administration, HR systems, and reporting accuracy
• Drive employee engagement, wellness, and organisational culture initiatives
• Maintain accurate HR records, audits, and statutory reporting
• Support management teams and act as a trusted HR advisor across all properties
• Travel between properties and provide operational HR support when required
Requirements
• RSA ID and legal residence essential
• Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an HR Manager or Assistant HR Manager within hospitality
• Proven experience managing large workforces (100 employees)
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EE Act, OHSA)
• Experience with industrial relations, CCMA processes and conflict resolution
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
• Payroll system experience (e.g. SAGE) advantageous
• Experience across multiple properties beneficial
