Cape Town City Centre: Dispatch Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Dispatch Manager to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As the face of our dispatch function, you will be responsible for ensuring that factory requirements and customer orders are handled smoothly from start to finish. Key Responsibilities

  • Managing Component Stores
  • Ensure component stores are running smoothly with adequate stock levels of the correct parts available daily.
  • Daily Issuing to Factory
  • Manage daily issuing of components to the factory and ensure accurate, controlled, and properly recorded stock movement.
  • Invoicing and Shipping Coordination
  • Handle paperwork for customer orders, prepare daily invoicing, and ensure timely dispatch via courier services or road trucking companies.
  • Dispatch Planning
  • Coordinate preparation, checking, and dispatching of customer orders to ensure deliveries are accurate and completed within required timelines.
  • Team Management
  • Lead and manage a team of approximately 8 to 10 staff members, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and the department runs smoothly.
  • Customer and Supplier Interaction
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers and suppliers, assisting with queries, resolving issues, and maintaining professional working relationships.
  • Stock and Documentation Control
  • Monitor stock movement, manage discrepancies, ensure records are updated correctly, and maintain accurate dispatch, stores, and invoicing documentation.
  • Operational Problem-Solving
  • Assist in resolving dispatch delays, stock issues, delivery concerns, customer queries, and day-to-day operational challenges.

Requirements

  • Matric
  • Previous experience in a Dispatch Manager, Dispatch Supervisor, Stores Manager, Warehouse Manager, or Logistics Management role
  • Experience within a manufacturing, production, FMCG, warehousing, or distribution environment is preferred
  • Experience managing component stores or stock issuing to a factory environment is advantageous
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office
  • ERP, stock control, warehouse, or dispatch system experience would be advantageous

Qualifications

  • Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.) are not required for this role.
