About the Role
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our quality management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety in our flexible packaging operations. With a strong background in QA and leadership experience, you will play a critical role in driving our BRCGS implementation and maintaining compliance with QMS and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and driving all QA activities related to the implementation, maintenance and running of BRCGS for the company’s packaging food safety system
- Planning and scheduling all internal audits for the company
- Assisting and acting as a 2IC to the National QA Manager
- Managing daily QA operations, including laboratory testing and inspection activities
- Ensuring compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), BRCGS, and regulatory standards
- Conducting process audits, factory inspections, and layered audits
- Managing non-conformances, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Overseeing product testing, specifications, and Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
- Monitoring and controlling quarantined stock and quality-related KPIs
- Supporting new product development with technical QA input
- Leading, coaching, and developing the QA team to achieve performance targets
- Handling customer complaints and providing timely, accurate feedback
- Conducting internal audits and supporting external audits and certifications
- Assisting in supplier audits and new raw material approvals
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Quality or Food Technology or Industrial Engineering, or related qualification
- Previous experience having worked within a QA environment, with supervisory or leadership experience
- Previous experience having worked within flexible packaging providing packaging for the food and beverage markets is preferred
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Solid understanding of BRCGS, ISO, and quality systems, with proven problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
- Strong planning, organisation, and decision-making ability
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
