About the Role

The Receiver role at our company is a critical position responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate receipt, storage, and management of general merchandise within dedicated locations in the warehouse. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with procurement staff to list and schedule expected deliveries on a daily basis.
  • Prepare for incoming deliveries to ensure accurate inspection, labelling, and counts are produced.
  • Record the total time needed to receive and move items through to warehouse and monitor the number of deliveries coming into the warehouse and manage workload accordingly.
  • Ensure space availability at receiving area to ensure maximum capacity and efficiency.
  • Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity, size, price, and expiry date).
  • Sign for deliveries, checks delivery content against the invoice, and address/resolves any problems with deliveries accordingly.
  • Check invoice to ensure all items are accounted for.
  • Unpack, examine incoming deliveries, reject and note/record/report defective or damaged items.
  • Ensure that all products are labelled according to Kerston Foods Standards.
  • Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control.
  • Record product movement.
  • Ensure items have appropriate codes by marking items using labelling equipment.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses.
  • Files and update all written documentation such as the invoices and purchase orders for auditing purposes.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12.
  • 1 year certificate level or short training, warehousing/supply chain studies would be a significant advantage.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in warehouse operations in medium to large scale Receiving/Warehouse/Logistics or similar role.
  • Proven experience as receiver or similar position.
  • Stores and stock handling experience advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Valid forklift licence required.
  • Knowledge and experience in safety practices and procedures applicable to receiving of food products.
  • FMCG experience highly advantageous.
