About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant / Junior Financial Manager to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, managing cash flow forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, and preparing accurate monthly management accounts. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, bank reconciliations, payroll processing and reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process and support strategic financial planning
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements (VAT, UIF, EMP201, SARS submissions)
  • Prepare annual financial statements and act as the primary liaison with external auditors
  • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation calculations
  • Oversee grant financial management, donor reporting, and compliance with funding requirements
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls and governance frameworks
  • Manage and mentor the finance and administration team
  • Prepare regular financial reports for senior management and Board review

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a senior role
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs and South African tax and non-profit legislation
  • Experience coordinating annual audits and working with external auditors
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Business Central) and strong Excel skills
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and the ability to work autonomously
  • Experience within the non-profit or donor-funded environment
