Dundee: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

Minimum requirements for the role: Must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) Must be a qualified Diesel Mechanic with a valid Red Seal Trade Certificate Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience as a Mechanic Proven experience working on tractors, farm implements, trucks, and earth-moving equipment Valid drivers licence (PDP will be an advantage) and own reliable transport Good communications skills with fluency in Afrikaans and English (Reading, Writing, Speaking) The successful candidate will be responsible for: Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing on tractors, farm implements, trucks, and earth-moving machinery. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on diesel-powered equipment. Conducting breakdown repairs and emergency callouts to minimise downtime during critical farming periods. Servicing and maintaining vehicles and transport fleet to ensure roadworthiness and compliance. Inspecting and repairing farm implements such as planters, harvesters, balers, and spray equipment. Overhauling engines, gearboxes, and major components when required. Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance work, parts used, and service history on job cards. Ordering and managing spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are readily available. Working standby duties, overtime, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required. Adhering to all safety protocols, policies, and legal requirements (including the OHS Act) while working under pressure in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
