Cape Town City Centre: Senior Bookkeeper / Finance Operations Coordinator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Finance Operations Coordinator to join our growing business as we transition towards a more AI-integrated operational and finance environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of financial information presented to leadership teams while managing core finance processes and supporting ongoing operational and systems improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Perform bank, supplier, debtor, and balance sheet reconciliations alongside processing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Monitor and report on cash flow, and process monthly journals, accruals, month-end, and year-end processes.
  • Prepare weekly financial and operational reporting packs to ensure accuracy, integrity, and visibility for management.
  • Work across cloud-based accounting and operational systems to support the evolution toward AI-enabled and automated workflows.
  • Identify inefficiencies, monitor financial trends or operational variances, and suggest process improvements.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and workflow management to junior finance and administration staff.
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors where required and assist with invoicing administration.

Requirements

  • 3-10 years of bookkeeping or finance operations experience.
  • Proven experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or similar role with strong reconciliation and reporting capability.
  • Experience preparing management or operational reports and working with accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or Pastel Evolution.
  • Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets capability, and comfort working with technology, automation, and AI-assisted tools.
