Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric and a Tertiary qualification in a Production Discipline
  • Post-Matric Qualification in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, advantageous
  • Minimum 7 years’ relevant working experience on middle management level within a furniture manufacturing environment
  • Proficient on MS Outlook, Word, and advanced Excel
  • Syspro knowledge advantageous
  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles

Responsibilities:

  • Execute production plan to meet manufacturing deliverables as well as Customer requirements
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures & ensure that compliance requirements are met
  • Lead, manage, and motivate staff in the manufacturing business unit
  • Performance management
  • Identify training needs and initiate, mentor, monitor and manage relevant programs
  • Manage employee relationships to match company ethos
  • Understand BCEA, LRA, Bargaining Council main agreement, as well as legal compliance requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Understand and manage all IR related interventions within operations
  • T&A system management and approvals
  • Manage and facilitate internal company training initiatives through the upskilling and multiskilling of staff
  • Ensure the preventative maintenance and repairs scheduled of assets in production departments are adhered to
  • Work with Maintenance Manager to do major planned maintenance schedules
  • Assist and provide input into the preparation of the manufacturing business unit expense budget
  • Plan, formulate, organize, control, and direct personnel and production activities, by removing process waste
  • Follow up, escalate, and take necessary action if production outputs are not meeting expectations
  • Propose any amendments to improve processes
  • Ensure that production information and data is recorded timeously
  • Champion all Lean improvement projects
  • Manage and control waste with the aim to improve raw material yield
  • Ensure delivery of quality products within standard requirements
  • Maintain and enforce quality procedures in the manufacturing plant and ensure quality control checks are completed
  • Conversant with OHSA, Company Emergency Plan, Environment, Safety, Drug and Alcohol policies, as well as all other related policies
  • Ensure that the manufacturing personnel work safely in accordance with safe work procedures
  • Oversee and ensure that high safety standards are always maintained. Involved in H&S site governance
