About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Butler to join our team at an iconic hotel based in Cape Town. As a key member of our luxury service department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional personalised service to all hotel guests, ensuring that every guest has a memorable experience with our brand. You will work closely with the Butler Supervisor to maximise revenues and profitability, while promoting further services of the brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating and providing the “WOW” experience for hotel guests
- Assisting in all aspects of overall hotel operations, including reservations, reception, concierge, travel desk, library, bell desk, business centre, guest relations, in room dining, and private bar
- Inspecting and monitoring areas of the department to ensure highest quality assurance standards
- Handling telephone calls professionally and in accordance with departmental standards
- Ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of the outlet
- Overseeing daily reservations, lounge and restaurant bookings, guest movement, and activities
- Maintaining effective system of recording guest history, preferences, and other guest-related data in Amadeus
- Ensuring adherence to operational standards for equipment and processes
- Supporting various integrated activities during low and high-volume periods
- Ensuring proper billing of tables or rooms
- Actively participating in all training programmes
- Remitting cash & sales summary at the end of every shift
- Controlling cost by minimising wastage & breakage
- Ensuring adequate stock of operating supplies as per re-ordering levels
- Constantly innovating and improving processes for guest delight
- Maintaining cleanliness and correct storage, handling, and inventory of all items of stock and equipment
- Enabling adherence to principles and work practices detailed under HACCP
- Updating reports, registers, and logbooks
- Coordinating with Front Desk regarding events on a weekly basis
- Knowledge of hotel events, activities, and promotions
- Planning and preparing requisition systematically for food and beverage supplies and arranging its pick-up and organised storage
- Taking guest orders (telephonically or in room) and ensuring proper execution
- Ensuring all guest requests are attended to promptly
- Handling minor guest complaints and/or referring them to the Butler Supervisor/F&B Management for appropriate action
- Maintaining an effective guest history system by reporting to the Butler Supervisor any additional information about guests’ preferences
Requirements
- Graduates from reputed hotel management schools (desirable)
- Graduates with experience in hotels or hospitality sector
- Graduates from a reputable Butler Academy
- At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in F&B Service
- Fluent in English
- Additional language advantageous
- Knowledge about Food and Beverage services as well as rules of F&B service and service etiquette
- Professional guest interaction
- Good communication skills
- Pleasing and service-oriented personality
- Computer literate (Amadeus, Microsoft, and Infogenesis POS)
- Complete understanding of the billing cycle and facilities offered in-house
- Thorough knowledge of city and surroundings and able to make relevant bookings
