About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Manager to oversee all technical aspects of our production processes in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, product development, and manufacturing within the homeware industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and program CNC machine instructions based on detailed design specifications and drawings
- Troubleshoot and resolve CNC programming issues, ensuring precise and accurate machining of components
- Continuously improve CNC programming techniques and workflows to enhance productivity and reduce errors
- Set up and maintain machine maintenance schedules and report machine breakdowns
- Ensure machinery is optimized for efficient and quality production
- Monitor the quality and accuracy of technical drawings completed by the team
- Implement and oversee quality control procedures with WFC Factory
- Manage prototypes and production runs to ensure they meet business standards
- Translate design concepts/briefs into physical products through precise manufacturing techniques (materials, methodology, etc.)
- Lead a team by providing guidance, training, and support
- Lead and manage R&D regarding materials (finishes and hardware) and packaging
- Provide technical motivation in conjunction with WFC Factory Manager for final sign-off
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, draughting, or mechanical engineering
- Proven experience in product design and development, including a strong portfolio of successful projects
- 5 years of working experience in a similar position
- Proficient in design software and computer literate:
- AutoCAD
- Fusion 360
- Microsoft Office
- CNC Programming
- Solid understanding of raw material, hardware, construction/assembly, and finishing
- Demonstrates a passion for materials, furniture construction, and design; will be creative & passionate about the company brand, eager to use their skills to maximize the brand look
- Driver’s license and reliable transport required
- Good time management and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and produce high-quality work
- Positive hands-on, can-do attitude
- Focused and have a high level of self-discipline and continuous willingness to learn
