Cape Umbrellas is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Technical Junior Cost Accountant to join our finance and operations team. This role is ideal for a candidate who enjoys working with numbers, manufacturing processes, costing systems, and operational analysis in a fast-paced production environment.

Technical Junior Cost Accountant

Location: Airport City, Cape Town

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with product costing and margin analysis
  • Monitor raw material, labour, and production costs
  • Support monthly stock counts and inventory reconciliations
  • Analyse variances between actual and standard costs
  • Prepare costing reports and operational financial analysis
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) and costing databases
  • Work closely with production, procurement, and finance departments
  • Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
  • Assist with month-end reporting and audit requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Cost & Management Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 12 years experience in a manufacturing or technical environment advantageous
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and inventory control advantageous
  • Knowledge of Pastel Evolution Package
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
