About the Role
Hire Resolve is seeking a highly technical Unit Manager: SOX to lead the compliance programme for a major global industrial group. This role is essential for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting through the rigorous application of the COSO framework and PCAOB requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Management: Lead the day-to-day execution of the SOX compliance programme in accordance with approved methodologies and regulatory timelines.
- Risk & Scoping: Perform and coordinate SOX risk assessments, including materiality calculations and account/location scoping.
- Control Design: Lead the identification and documentation of key financial reporting and IT-dependent controls (RCMs and process flows).
- Effectiveness Testing: Coordinate the evaluation of control design and operating effectiveness, identifying execution risks and bottlenecks.
- Deficiency Evaluation: Perform detailed assessments of control deficiencies, including root cause analysis and severity assessment, and draft evaluations for senior management.
- Reporting & Certification: Manage quarterly Control Self-Assessment (CSA) and Control Environment Questionnaire (CEQ) processes.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for process owners, IT control owners, and external auditors.
Requirements
- Education: NQF 8 (Postgraduate Diploma / Honours Degree / Professional Qualification).
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years SOX-related experience.
- At least 2 years in a leadership, supervisory, or senior specialist role.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong experience in SOX control documentation (IT and non-IT) and process flow evaluation.
- Practical experience applying the COSO Internal Control Framework.
- Advanced understanding of SOX Sections 404 and 302.
- Compliance: Clear credit and security screening record.
- Advantageous: CA(SA) qualification and experience within the mining or heavy industrial sectors.
