About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Thatchfield store is seeking a Dispensary Support to join our team on a Fixed Term basis. The primary purpose of this role is to equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a registered Basic Pharmacist Assistant. This opportunity will provide learners with hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical environment, promoting quality and job learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Unpacking and merchandising of stock, cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves as approved by the responsible pharmacist.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
- Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements.
- Check medication for accuracy, including picking, packing, labelling, and checking common dosages and important drug interactions.
- Manage cleanliness and organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the Dispensary Manager and follow up appointments.
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
- Provide information to individuals to promote health.
- Authorise scheme medication for chronic, HIV, and AIDS, and oncology medication.
- Report low or out of stock levels and stock errors to the Dispensary Manager.
- Receive dispensary stock in accordance with SOP set out by the company.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric or Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science, and/or Physical Science obtained at an average of 50%.
- Completion of a proficiency test approving registration with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in two official languages.
