About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Administrator to join a dynamic team in Durban. In this role, you will be the gears behind the scenes managing procurement functions, streamlining inventory control, and driving supplier negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, establish, and maintain strong relationships with vendors for consumables.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to secure the best deals; actively monitor suppliers for special offers.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Source new products and suppliers for buyout items based on external and internal client requests.
- Stay ahead of market trends and competitor pricing to ensure purchasing remains competitive.
- Place accurate orders for consumables based on demand forecasts and current stock levels.
- Track and monitor orders to ensure timely delivery and minimize disruptions to warehouse operations.
- Manage the full PO lifecycle: review, update, or cancel purchase orders as required.
- Receipt stock into the ERP system.
- Match POs, delivery notes, GRNs, and invoices perfectly before submitting them to the creditors department for payment processing.
- Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Ensure consumable products are stored according to safety standards and proper inventory management practices.
- Monitor stock rotation and keep a sharp eye on expiry dates.
- Work closely with internal teams (production/operations) to forecast demand for chemicals and other materials, developing robust long-term supply plans.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 or Diploma/Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
- Experience: 35 years of proven experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory management.
- Industry: Experience working within a manufacturing or distribution environment is highly advantageous.
- Licensing: Valid Drivers License is essential.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in an ERP system (Experience with Syspro is highly advantageous).
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
