About the Role
A specialist engineering company in the East Rand manufacturing modular process plants is seeking an experienced Structural / Civil Engineer registered with ECSA to join their team. The company designs and delivers pilot plants, test facilities, demonstration plants, and full-scale modular production plants across various sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyse, and review steel and modular structures for process plants
- Provide engineering sign-off in accordance with ECSA requirements
- Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
- Integrate with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, piping, electrical, fabrication)
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and structural assessments
- Ensure compliance with SANS standards, building regulations, and client specifications
- Support projects from FEED through detailed design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning
- Work closely with fabricators, tradesmen, and project managers to ensure quality, cost, and timelines are met
- Apply strong attention to detail and uphold engineering best practices
- Deliver solutions quickly and accurately in a fast-paced project environment
Requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- ECSA registration (BEng or BTech Eng) mandatory
- Extensive experience in steel structures
- Strong experience in modular structures (skids, frames, platforms, modular plants)
- Experience in mining, petrochemical, oil & gas, or modular plant environments
- Proficiency in structural design software (Prokon, AutoCAD, Revit or similar)
- Ability to provide engineering sign-off and ensure compliance with SANS standards
