Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and review allocated patient-liable debtor books and age analyses to identify overdue accounts.
- Follow up on outstanding accounts via telephone, email, SMS, and other approved communication channels.
- Negotiate, implement, and monitor structured payment arrangements and plans with patients.
- Maintain highly accurate, detailed documentation of all patient interactions and collection activities.
- Escalate unresolved accounts and assist with preparing accounts for legal collection when necessary.
- Contribute to achieving monthly collection targets and assist with month-end reporting and debtor reconciliations.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate is essential.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical debtors collections, patient-liable collections, or a credit control environment.
- Previous experience within the medical billing industry is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with medical billing and practice management systems (e.g., Elixir Live, MedEDI, iHealth, Healthbridge, or Vericlaim).
- A strong understanding of healthcare billing principles, patient liability, and medical aid processes.
