About the Role
Kendrick Recruitment Presents: A Culinary Leadership Opportunity in the Heart of the Bush. We are on the lookout for a passionate and highly skilled Executive Chef for a prestigious luxury safari lodge in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal. This is an exciting live-in opportunity for a creative culinary professional who is ready to lead from the front, inspire a kitchen team, and deliver unforgettable dining experiences in one of South Africa’s most beautiful bush settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute 7-day menus in line with the lodge’s Food Styling Guide
- Lead all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, organisation, and food quality across all meal services
- Consistently deliver fresh, creative, and beautifully presented dishes
- Lead, train, and mentor the kitchen brigade, maintaining discipline, professionalism, and a strong service culture
- Stock control, ordering, COS management, and kitchen organisation will be key
- Ensure all equipment, storage areas, and food transport processes meet strict operational standards
- Collaborate closely with management, HODs, and suppliers to ensure seamless communication and operational excellence throughout
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior kitchen role within high-end hospitality
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Exceptional culinary standards with a passion for presentation and flavour
- Excellent organisational, planning, and cost control abilities
- Strong communicator with a hands-on, proactive approach
- Passion for bush dining experiences and guest engagement
Qualifications
- Valid unendorsed SA driver’s licence (advantageous)
