About the Role
We are seeking an Actuarial Specialist â Microinsurance (Life & NonâLife) to join our team in Johannesburg. This role combines technical modelling with product innovation, providing exposure to both life and nonâlife actuarial work. You will have the opportunity to engage with senior stakeholders and cell captive clients, while contributing to the growth of technical depth and industry influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, analyse, and interpret data for actuarial functions
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external audiences
- Analyse mortality, morbidity, and lapse rates (life)
- Analyse key metrics for nonâlife products such as loss ratios, claim frequencies, and severities
- Support development and pricing of life and nonâlife products
- Build pricing models and conduct profitability analyses
- Assist with structuring new deals and improving product structuring
- Identify, assess, and manage risks across portfolios
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis (life)
- Evaluate underwriting risks for nonâlife products
- Ensure adherence to actuarial standards and regulatory requirements
- Prepare statutory reports (life) and ensure nonâlife product compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar
- Good progress toward Actuarial qualification
- Minimum 35 years actuarial experience
- Experience in life & nonâlife insurance (advantageous)
- Experience in pricing and product development (advantageous)
