About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering and maintenance teams across manufacturing facilities in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency, while driving continuous improvement initiatives and managing CAPEX projects. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to join our team and contribute to the success of our food and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering and maintenance teams across manufacturing facilities
- Ensure maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency through proactive maintenance strategies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, TPM, root cause analysis)
- Oversee CAPEX projects, including plant upgrades, installations, and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), food safety standards, and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
- Manage utilities (HVAC, boilers, compressed air, water systems) in line with industry standards
- Develop and implement engineering budgets, cost control measures, and asset management strategies
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams to meet production targets
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) advantageous
- Minimum 10 years experience in engineering/maintenance within food, FMCG, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
- At least 35 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and ISO standards
