Role: IBM BAW Architect (Business Automation Workflow Architect) Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced IBM BAW Architect to lead the design, assessment, and transformation of enterprise workflow solutions. The role focuses on reviewing existing workflows, integrations, and business processes while ensuring alignment with fintech industry standards and new product governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Workflow & Process Assessment
    • Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing IBM BAW / BPM workflows
    • Analyze current process efficiency, scalability, and compliance
    • Identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and optimization opportunities
    • Recommend re-engineering or automation strategies aligned with best practices

Integration Architecture

  • Evaluate and validate integration patterns across enterprise systems (APIs, ESB, microservices)
  • Assess current connectivity with core banking / fintech platforms
  • Define and implement robust, scalable integration frameworks
  • Ensure secure and compliant data exchange across systems

Business Process Design & Optimization

  • Design end-to-end business processes using IBM BAW
  • Lead process modelling using BPMN and decision modelling (DMN)
  • Align processes with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational efficiency
  • Establish reusable frameworks and governance standards for process lifecycle management

Fintech Domain Expertise

  • Provide subject matter expertise in financial services and fintech ecosystems
  • Understand digital payments, onboarding, KYC, AML, and transaction processing workflows
  • Align workflow solutions with industry regulations and compliance expectations
  • Support innovation initiatives for new fintech product offerings

New Product Governance

  • Lead governance for new workflow-driven product initiatives
  • Define approval workflows, audit trails, and compliance checkpoints
  • Ensure alignment with risk, compliance, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with product, risk, and compliance teams to enforce governance frameworks

Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Define target architecture for IBM BAW platform
  • Provide architectural oversight for development teams
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards and security policies
  • Mentor developers and analysts on IBM BAW best practices

Required Skills & Experience Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW)
  • Experience with:
    • BPMN process modelling
    • Integration (REST/SOAP APIs, MQ, Kafka, ESB)
    • Java / Java EE (preferred)
    • IBM WebSphere / OpenShift environments
  • Knowledge of automation tools (RPA, ODM, decision services) is a plus

Business & Domain Expertise

  • Deep understanding of financial services / fintech
  • Experience with:
    • Payments systems
    • Digital banking platforms
    • Regulatory frameworks (KYC, AML, GDPR, )
  • Strong business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills

Governance & Strategy

  • Experience designing process governance frameworks
  • Knowledge of risk, audit, and compliance processes
  • Ability to align IT solutions with business strategy

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Leadership and mentoring capability

Preferred Qualifications

  • IBM BAW / BPM certifications
  • TOGAF or enterprise architecture certification
