Johannesburg: Mid-level Platform Engineer (Infrastructure & Networking)

Key Responsibilities Manage, maintain, and optimize on-premise and bare-metal infrastructure environments Support and troubleshoot networking, storage, virtualization, and systems infrastructure Contribute to the evolution of Kubernetes and container orchestration capabilities Assist with automation, monitoring, observability, and operational tooling Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, performance, and network-related issues Work closely with engineering and data teams to improve platform reliability and scalability Take ownership of initiatives from concept through to production deployment Continuously improve operational processes, system resilience, and security practices Required Skills Strong Linux systems administration experience Solid networking fundamentals, including: TCP/IP Routing and switching DNS Firewalls Load balancing Experience with bare-metal and/or on-premise infrastructure environments Experience with scripting and automation (e.g. Bash, Python, or similar) Strong problem-solving ability and systems thinking mindset Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges Desirable Skills Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling Understanding of observability and monitoring stacks (metrics, logs, tracing) Qualifications Industry-related Degree or Diploma, or equivalent practical experience 35 years experience in infrastructure, systems administration, platform engineering, or a related technical environment Formal qualifications are advantageous but not essential, with strong emphasis placed on demonstrable experience and technical capability.
