Job Description

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this mine of the future. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development. Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Quantity Surveying or related field. Experience working with contractors or project-based procurement environments. Strong understanding of material pricing, sourcing and supplier management. Exposure to ERP systems (e.g. JDE, SAP or similar) advantageous. Suitable candidates must have the following work experience Minimum 58 years experience in procurement, buying or estimating within construction, mining or infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: Procurement Support and Execution Facilitate sourcing of materials required for construction activities. Ensure procurement is conducted through approved suppliers and frameworks where applicable. Assist contractors in obtaining competitive quotations and ensuring fair pricing. Standardise procurement processes across multiple contractors to ensure consistency and control. Cost Estimation and Pricing Support Assist in preparing cost estimates for construction work packages. Validate contractor pricing to ensure accuracy and alignment with market rates. Identify potential cost overruns at early stages and propose mitigation strategies. Support Quantity Surveyors in aligning procurement costs with overall project budgets. Commercial Governance and Control Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures. Prevent unauthorised purchasing and ensure proper approval processes are followed. Monitor supplier selection to prevent bias, favouritism or potential fraud risks. Ensure full documentation and audit trail for all procurement transactions. Supplier Management and Coordination Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. Resolve supply chain issues impacting construction progress. Monitor supplier performance in terms of cost, quality and delivery. Support development of a reliable supplier base for community contractors. Contractor Support and Capability Development Provide guidance to contractors on procurement processes and best practices. Support contractors in understanding pricing structures and cost drivers. Assist in building procurement and commercial awareness within local contractors. Ensure contractors operate within financially sustainable parameters. Integration with Project Execution Work closely with Construction Manager, Supervisors and QS team. Ensure procurement aligns with construction sequencing and schedule requirements. Support planning by ensuring materials are available when required. Prevent delays caused by procurement inefficiencies . Risk Management Identify risks related to supplier availability, pricing volatility and procurement delays. Implement mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of supply. Monitor for abnormal pricing trends or irregular procurement patterns.
