About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead and manage a team of mechanical design engineers, ensuring high-quality project delivery and technical excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of delivering results under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to support team performance and development
- Engage with clients to understand project requirements and align engineering outputs accordingly
- Plan, allocate, and optimise engineering resources across multiple projects
- Manage project timelines, ensuring milestones are achieved and deviations are communicated proactively
- Lead internal and external design reviews to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
- Ensure all designs meet required specifications, standards, and quality expectations
- Oversee CAD design activities, including 3D modelling and 2D drawing creation
- Maintain accurate and structured product data within PDM systems
- Support custom engineering requests and prioritise deliverables effectively
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, quality, and operational efficiency
Requirements
- 15 years of mechanical design experience
- Proven team leadership in engineering/design environments
- Strong project and task management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- High attention to detail with a quality-driven mindset
- Advanced MS Excel and computer literacy
- Experience with CAD and PDM systems
Qualifications
- Minimum BEng / BSc in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
