About the Role
Network Finance is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (HV) to deliver, review, and manage high-voltage electrical engineering solutions across complex projects. The role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on HV design and site experience, and the ability to support projects from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute HV electrical engineering design for projects involving substations, HV reticulation, transmission and distribution systems.
- Prepare, review, and approve HV designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Eskom standards, South African Grid Code, NRS, IEC, SANS, OHSA, and other applicable regulations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
- Interface with clients, contractors, Eskom, consultants, suppliers, and internal multidisciplinary teams.
- Support tender evaluations, feasibility studies, technical assessments, and cost estimates.
- Provide site engineering support, including inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Identify technical risks and implement safe, practical, and cost-effective HV solutions.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety, quality, programme, and budget requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, engineering best practice, and innovation.
Requirements
- BTech / BEng / BSc in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Registration with ECSA (PR.ENG) preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years relevant electrical engineering experience.
- Proven High Voltage (HV) experience, including: HV substations, Transmission & distribution networks, HV reticulation, Switching stations and protection systems.
- Experience working on projects from design through construction and commissioning.
- Strong exposure to construction and site-based engineering environments.
- Experience within industrial, infrastructure, energy, mining, or renewable sectors (advantageous).
