About the Role

The Senior Dealmaker role is a critical position within our organization, responsible for evaluating and presenting applications for funding and structuring deals that contribute towards the SBU objectives and industry development goals. This requires a deep understanding of financial, technical, and marketing disciplines, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and present applications for funding and structure deals that contribute towards the SBU objectives and industry development goals.
  • Perform complex financial and/or technical and/or marketing due diligence functions across the country.
  • Lead a due diligence team and ensure risk identification and mitigation.
  • Assist the Regional Manager with the implementation of corporate-wide initiatives as and when required.
  • Evaluate applications for finance (financial, technical and marketing disciplines).
  • Designing and negotiating the financial and legal relationship between the client and the client for the specific deal.
  • Ensure that the deal is aligned with the strategic objectives of the unit and will contribute to meeting industry development goals.
  • Prepare well-written and motivated reports for presentation to the relevant Credit and other committees as required.
  • Conduct peer reviews on all due diligence disciplines.
  • Provide advice to Business Analysts and Dealmakers in the handling of enquiries and applications.
  • Build and maintain a strong deal pipeline.
  • Proactively drive new business growth in line with specific initiatives that are aligned to the SBU strategy.

Requirements

  • Relevant commercial or technical honours degree (minimum qualification).
  • 8-10 years related experience, including 8 years in deal assessment and closing of transactions.
  • Declared competent in three due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical, and Financial).
  • Knowledge in assessing all associated issues in a transaction (Legal, risks, etc.).
  • Experience in peer review.
  • Interpretation and analysis of financial statements.
  • Understanding of the market environment and technology landscape.
  • Knowledge of financing instruments.
