About the Role
Our client in the logistics and transport industry is seeking a highly experienced Payroll and Driver Performance Controller to join their team based in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling driver payroll and earnings, ensuring all payments are accurate, performance-based, compliant with Bargaining Council regulations, and aligned to actual operational output.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for 350400 drivers
- Verify all km-based earnings against trip sheets/tracking records, delivery records, and operational data from Team Leaders
- Ensure accurate calculation of all earnings and timely and error-free payroll processing
- Prevent overpayment and incorrect claims
- Enforce and ensure leave balances, absenteeism, and leave compliance
- Track and manage IOD (Injury on Duty) cases and all other forms of leave
- Process approved deductions for damages, futile trips, and operational mistakes
- Investigate irregular payments, unusual km patterns, and abnormal earnings trends
- Identify errors, misreporting, potential abuse, and escalate findings to management immediately
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of driver roles, payment structures, and system changes
- Maintain alignment between HR records, operational roles, and payroll systems
- Reconcile and report payroll vs operational data, payroll reports, exception reports, and performance summaries
- Handle and resolve pay-related queries, km disputes, and professional communication
Requirements
- 35 years of experience in Payroll (high volume) and/or Data control/reconciliation
- Experience in Logistics or transport industry, Km-based driver payroll, and Bargaining Council environments
- Strong skills in Excel and Data analysis
- Strong understanding of Payroll systems and Compliance processes
